Mementos of the bay

A clean, cream-colored façade hides an intimate, artful paradise halfway through one of the many cobblestone streets in Bucerías, Mexico.

Carmesí by Vicente García was playing in the background. Without notice, the air, heat, and sunlight turned into the perfect combination.

Coastal towns are full of jubilant treasures. 2 Birds In Paradise delicately echoes the sentiment behind bohemian décor and the constant pursuit of a place that feels like home. Inspired by the colors and vibrancy of the ocean, this beach shop preserves a collection of art, textiles, paintings, jewelry, and seaside stories. These items are silent storytellers, each carefully selected. Hand-painted, hand-woven, hand-chosen.

A little patio guided us to my favorite part of the space - an antique water fountain that beautifully tells a house restoration story. This space maintains itself as a traditional, Mexican casa; high ceilings, and big windows with a picturesque feel.

Mother-daughter duo Lauren and Tracey founded 2 Birds In Paradise in 2022. After her first visit, Lauren knew she belonged to a life near the ocean. Inspired by her travels, nature, and her love for interior design, she has curated a delicate space that not only satisfies a growing local market in home décor, she has also created a warm, lively atmosphere full of unique collectibles while also building a community.

“I think that when you’re not stressed and you’re in a creative flow, you just see inspiration everywhere.”

J: What’s your favorite part about this space?

L: I like that it’s small. We’re very intentional with what we bring in. I love that it is part of the community, we meet a lot of people from all over the world. I like that aspect.

Two burnt-clay-colored planters enhance the narrow entrance below the '2 Birds In Paradise' sign. Far behind, Vicente García's balmy verses.
